toilet problem - "shizzzz" sound - tank doesn't fill all the way?
my toilet has a problem, it has this weird "shizzzz" sound.
When you flush the toilet, the water fills up in the tank uptil the filler float (ball float) reaches the top and everything is done and no "water re-filling" noise.
With my toilet is that when I flushed the toilet, new water in the tank fills up, the problem is that when the ball float reaches the top it seems like the water is still filling (the "shizzzz" sound).
When i open up the tank, I see water still filling up even if the ball float is all the way up. I checked other components and they are fine, maybe something is leaking?
I also noticed when the faucet is on (in other bathrooms and the kitchen) the "shizzzz" sound in my toilet seems to lowered or disappear until the faucet is off.
Anyone got a fix to this problem?
when i open up the tank i noticed the water rises just barely up above overflow tube, so will replacing the filler valve fix the problem?
i don't think flapper valve is bad.
It stops filling when other water sources are turned on because the local pressure lowers in that situation. You have one of two problems, either you have a leak that is allowing water to leave the tank, or your float valve is not closing all the way. the way to test this is to reach on in there and pull up on your float arm. if it stops, then you may have a tank leak. If not, it may be a valve. Try turning off the water to your toilet for a while, make note of the water level when you leave. When you come back, a good while later, see if the water level is the same. If so, then you may have a bad valve, if not, it is a leak in the tank. One other thing to try is to flush the toilet and wait for it to fill, when it does, push the arm down for a few seconds to get the water a bit closer to the overflow, when you let go, does it continue to run? it may just be taking a while to become full enough to shut off completely.
